The visit included a high-level meeting with Montenegrin Minister of Sports Dragoslav Scekic, where the current achievements and future priorities of the cooperation were discussed. Minister Scekic emphasized the value of international collaboration in building effective systems for clean sport:
“The partnership with NADA Austria demonstrates the importance of knowledge-sharing when developing a high-quality national anti-doping program. This cooperation plays a key role in our efforts to promote integrity and fairness in Montenegrin sport.”
Mag. Michael Cepic praised the commitment of Montenegro’s sport institutions:
“We are witnessing strong engagement at all levels – from the Ministry of Sport to the National Olympic Committee and the Anti-Doping Commission. Such collaboration is essential for establishing a sustainable and credible anti-doping structure.”
A key highlight of the visit will be Cepic’s participation in the annual meeting of the Montenegrin Olympic Committee, where he will brief federation presidents on recent developments in the global anti-doping landscape and outline the responsibilities of national sport organizations under international standards.
“While geographically small, Montenegro has a significant presence on the international sporting stage – especially in team sports such as basketball, volleyball, and water polo. Ensuring a strong anti-doping system is crucial to maintaining that credibility,” said Cepic.
The visit will conclude with a strategic meeting at the Montenegrin Anti-Doping Commission, where the next steps of the mentoring program will be defined. This collaboration operates under the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between WADA and CEADO, which provides a framework for targeted mentoring and regional capacity-building.
This initiative exemplifies CEADO’s mission to foster effective, independent anti-doping programs through cooperation, regional solidarity, and shared expertise – empowering smaller countries to uphold the highest standards of clean sport.
